To truly appreciate how far we’ve come over the last five years, we have to throw it back to the foundation. No one knows our story better than Mrs. Chatterkick herself, Beth Trejo! We sat down with CEO Beth to start at the very beginning, and we believe it’s a story worth sharing!
Working on the non-profit scene, Beth became involved with the local chapter of the American Red Cross at a time when social media was just entering the workplace. Beth worked with social media specifically for the National Red Cross in Washington, D.C. as part of the Advance Public Affairs team and had a chance to really dive deep into using these tools for communication and awareness.
Following her stint in Washington, D.C., Beth returned to Sioux City and began working for the Chamber of Commerce. Her time with the Chamber, Beth believes, helped form the community connections and problem/solution mentality that Chatterkick would later adopt. Also while in Sioux City, Beth joined a young professionals organization that spurred her interest in creating her own business. Everyone was doing it, so why not Beth? Taking a leap of faith, she, along with two other young professionals, Kyle Kelly and Virginia Anderson, launched a social media company in 2012.
Chatterkick. The name itself was quirky and interesting, plus the internet domain was available, so it seemed like the perfect name for a new social media business.
As if running your own company wasn’t enough, one week after the launch, Beth discovered she was pregnant with her daughter. Talk about a stressful year! But in true Chatterkick fashion, Beth worked with what she had, and with the help of Kyle and Virginia created a successful and flourishing business.
Now on Chatterkick’s five year anniversary, Beth is most proud of the problems Chatterkick continues to solve. We are able to provide some relief to businesses and clients, and that is an accomplishment. “I’m happiest when our team and clients are thriving,” says Beth.
“From the very beginning, we have worked to solve problems and create new solutions one client and cup of coffee at a time. Now that we’re five, it’s time to start thinking about where we’ll go next.” Interested to find out? See part three of our anniversary celebration blogs next week!
